Dr. Gabriella Fried, PsyD
MEET YOUR NEW YORK CITY LIFE TRANSITIONS THERAPIST
Hi, I’m Dr. Gabriella Fried, a licensed clinical psychologist who helps adults navigating relationships stressors, anxiety and mood disorders, and general life stressors.
Life can feel overwhelming when relationship challenges, anxiety, changes in mood, or unexpected life stressors begin to affect how you feel and function. As a psychologist, I provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, gain perspective, and work toward meaningful change.
I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship stress, anxiety, mood concerns, work and life stressors, and major transitions. My approach is tailored to each person and focuses on understanding the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building practical tools to help you cope, communicate, and feel more grounded.
Whether you’re struggling with a relationship, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or stress, experiencing changes in your mood, or simply finding it difficult to navigate a challenging season of life, therapy can be an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create lasting change in your life and relationships.

Therapy for life transitions provides a supportive space to navigate periods of change, uncertainty, or adjustment. Life transitions can include changes such as starting a new career, moving, becoming a parent, ending or beginning a relationship, changes in family dynamics, or other significant shifts in your life. Even positive changes can bring stress and mixed emotions. Therapy can help you process these experiences, gain perspective, adjust to what’s changing, and reconnect with your sense of direction and what matters most to you.

Life transitions can bring a range of emotions, even when the change is something you’ve chosen or feel excited about. You may benefit from therapy if you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, stuck, or having difficulty adjusting to a significant change in your life. You might notice increased stress, anxiety, sadness, self-doubt, or difficulty maintaining your usual routines and relationships. You don’t need to be in crisis to seek support. Therapy can provide a space to process what you’re experiencing, gain clarity, and develop healthy ways to navigate change while moving forward with greater confidence.

Therapy can provide a supportive space to slow down, process change, and make sense of the emotions that often come with life transitions. Together, we can explore what feels difficult or uncertain, identify patterns that may be making the transition more challenging, and develop healthy ways to cope with stress and change. Therapy can also help you gain clarity about your needs and values, build confidence in your decisions, and adjust to your new circumstances in a way that feels intentional and meaningful.
-
Therapy for life transitions may draw from different approaches depending on your unique circumstances, needs, and goals. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help you navigate uncertainty and difficult emotions while staying connected to your values and what matters most to you. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help identify thought patterns and behaviors that may be making it harder to adjust to change. Therapy may also incorporate mindfulness, self-compassion, and other strategies to help you manage stress, build resilience, and move through transitions with greater clarity, flexibility, and confidence.

My fee is $250 for a 45-minute individual therapy session. I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, depending on your insurance plan, you may have out-of-network mental health benefits that allow you to receive reimbursement for a portion of your session fee. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your specific out-of-network benefits, deductible, reimbursement rate, and any required documentation.
Working with an out-of-network therapist can also offer greater flexibility and choice in finding a therapist who is the right fit for your needs, rather than being limited to a specific insurance network. It may also provide more flexibility in the therapeutic process and the type of care you receive. If helpful, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
