Couples Therapy in New York City
Services available virtually throughout NY and NJ
Relationships can become strained when communication breaks down, conflicts feel repetitive or unresolved, or partners begin to feel misunderstood, disconnected, or alone within the relationship. You may find yourselves having the same arguments, struggling to express your needs without becoming defensive, or feeling like you are no longer as close as you once were.
Couples therapy provides a supportive space to slow these patterns down and understand what is happening beneath the conflict. Using the Gottman Method, therapy focuses on strengthening communication, increasing understanding, and developing healthier approaches to conflict resolution. Together, we can work toward breaking unhelpful cycles, learning to communicate with greater clarity and compassion, and rebuilding friendship, trust, and connection within the relationship. The goal is not to avoid conflict, but to develop the skills to navigate challenges together and create a stronger, more meaningful partnership.

Couples therapy can be helpful when you and your partner feel stuck in recurring patterns of conflict, disconnection, or misunderstanding. You may benefit from therapy if communication has become difficult, disagreements are hard to resolve, you’re struggling to feel heard or understood, or you’ve noticed a change in emotional or physical connection. Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis—it can also be a valuable resource for couples who want to strengthen their relationship, navigate a major life transition, or improve how they communicate and support one another. Couples therapy may incorporate different evidence-based approaches depending on the needs and goals of each relationship. The Gottman Method focuses on strengthening friendship and connection, improving communication, managing conflict, and developing a deeper understanding of one another. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help partners make space for difficult emotions, respond to challenges with greater flexibility, and stay connected to their shared and individual values. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may contribute to conflict or disconnection. These approaches can be integrated to help couples communicate more effectively, navigate differences, and build a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.

My fee is $250 for a 45-minute individual therapy session. I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, depending on your insurance plan, you may have out-of-network mental health benefits that allow you to receive reimbursement for a portion of your session fee. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your specific out-of-network benefits, deductible, reimbursement rate, and any required documentation.
Working with an out-of-network therapist can also offer greater flexibility and choice in finding a therapist who is the right fit for your needs, rather than being limited to a specific insurance network. It may also provide more flexibility in the therapeutic process and the type of care you receive. If helpful, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
