Therapy for Relationship Stress in New York City
Services available virtually throughout NY and NJ
Relationships are an important part of our lives, but stress and conflict can arise in any relationship — with a partner, family member, friend, or coworker. Ongoing tension, misunderstandings, or difficulty communicating can leave us feeling frustrated, disconnected, unheard, or emotionally drained.
Therapy provides a supportive space to better understand relationship patterns and develop healthier ways of relating to others. Together, we can work on more effective communication, expressing needs and boundaries, navigating conflict, and developing stronger conflict-resolution skills. Therapy can help you approach difficult conversations with greater clarity and confidence, while creating more opportunities for understanding, connection, and healthier relationships.

Hi, I’m Dr. Gabriella Fried, a licensed clinical psychologist who helps adults navigating relationships stressors, anxiety and mood disorders, and general life stressors.
Life can feel overwhelming when relationship challenges, anxiety, changes in mood, or unexpected life stressors begin to affect how you feel and function. As a psychologist, I provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can slow down, gain perspective, and work toward meaningful change.
I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship stress, anxiety, mood concerns, work and life stressors, and major transitions. My approach is tailored to each person and focuses on understanding the patterns that may be keeping you stuck while building practical tools to help you cope, communicate, and feel more grounded.
Whether you’re struggling with a relationship, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or stress, experiencing changes in your mood, or simply finding it difficult to navigate a challenging season of life, therapy can be an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My goal is to help you feel understood, supported, and empowered to create lasting change in your life and relationships.

Therapy for relationship stress can help you better understand the patterns and dynamics that may be contributing to tension, conflict, or disconnection. It provides a supportive space to explore your emotions, identify your needs, strengthen communication skills, and develop healthier boundaries. Therapy for relationship stress can draw from several approaches, depending on your needs and goals. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help you become more aware of difficult emotions and patterns while learning to respond in ways that are aligned with your values. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help identify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to conflict, disconnection, or relationship stress. When working with couples, the Gottman Method offers practical tools for improving communication, managing conflict, increasing understanding, and strengthening connection. These approaches can be integrated to help you develop healthier patterns, communicate more effectively, and build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.

My fee is $250 for a 45-minute individual therapy session. I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, depending on your insurance plan, you may have out-of-network mental health benefits that allow you to receive reimbursement for a portion of your session fee. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your specific out-of-network benefits, deductible, reimbursement rate, and any required documentation.
Working with an out-of-network therapist can also offer greater flexibility and choice in finding a therapist who is the right fit for your needs, rather than being limited to a specific insurance network. It may also provide more flexibility in the therapeutic process and the type of care you receive. If helpful, I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
